Where to hunt
The question that matters most in MU is not "what build do I make" — it is where am I hitting. A monster of the right level pays; one that is too weak pays almost nothing.
This is the whole list, with what each map has of its own.
The table
Level is the monster's, not yours. As a rule, hunt where the monster is close to your level.
| Map | Monster level | Excellent | What it has that is special |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lorencia | 2 – 19 | does not drop | where everyone starts |
| Noria | 2 – 18 | does not drop | start, and the Chaos Machine is here |
| Elbeland | 2 – 48 | 0.010% * | start, and goes further than the other two |
| Dungeon | 19 – 55 | 0.010% * | first place with equipment worth having |
| Devias | 20 – 52 | 0.010% * | good zen for the level |
| Atlans | 43 – 74 | 0.020% | underwater |
| Lost Tower | 47 – 66 | 0.020% | seven floors, each one deeper |
| Arena | 70 – 102 | 0.010% | no PvP |
| Tarkan | 72 – 93 | 0.020% | |
| Aida | 72 – 120 | 0.035% | and the Harmony NPCs are here |
| Icarus | 75 – 108 | 0.020% | needs wings to get in |
| Land of Trials | 75 – 128 | 0.035% | the only place in the game that drops ancient |
| Kanturu 1 | 80 – 129 | 0.035% | |
| Kanturu 2 | 117 – 119 | 0.035% | and the Moonstone Pendant drops here |
| Vulcanus | 90 – 124 | 0.050% | one of the best excellent rates |
| Swamp of Calmness | 95 – 137 | 0.050% | asks for level 400 to enter |
| Crywolf | 97 – 134 | 0.035% | the best material table on the server |
| Karutan 1 | 99 – 114 | 0.050% | |
| Karutan 2 | 105 – 120 | 0.050% | |
| Raklion | 102 – 148 | 0.050% | the only place that drops socket items |
| Barracks | 117 – 119 | 0.050% | small, and the Condor Flame drops here |
| Refuge | 118 – 128 | 0.050% | the smallest map in the game |
| Kalima 1 to 7 | 17 – 147 | 0.035% * | seven levels, you get in by item |
* Excellent and ancient only drop from monsters level 25 and up. In Lorencia and Noria no monster gets there: the rate is configured, but the game never gets to use it, and no excellent drops on those two maps. On the marked maps, the rate only applies to the high end — the low-level monsters of the map do not count.
This does not apply to jewels: a jewel drops from a monster of any level, respecting the minimum of each one (see below).
How to get to each one is in maps.
The three places that exist only once
If you want something specific, the map is not a choice:
| What you want | Only place |
|---|---|
| Ancient (old-set item) | Land of Trials — 0.15% per kill |
| Socket item | Raklion |
| Gemstone, which becomes Harmony | Kanturu 3, and only during the Kanturu event |
Material that drops on one map only
| Item | Where | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Splinter of Armor, Bless of Guardian, Claw of Beast | Crywolf | the three Fenrir materials |
| Loch's Feather | Icarus | second generation wings |
| Condor Flame | Barracks | third generation wings |
| Moonstone Pendant | Kanturu 2 | to enter the Kanturu event |
Crywolf has the best material table on the server — 0.20% on each of the three, double the rate of the jewels.
Where you hunt does not change the jewel chance
This saves a lot of wasted hours: Bless, Soul, Life, Creation and Chaos drop on any map, with the same chance, as long as the monster is high enough level.
There is no "jewel map". What changes from map to map is the excellent rate, the ancient, the socket and the exclusive material from the list above. See jewels.
And the density changes between the worlds
The same map has more monsters on the fast worlds:
| World | Monster count |
|---|---|
| x200 | the base |
| x500 | 1.3× |
| x1000 | 1.6× |
It is not only the experience that is bigger on x1000 — there is more to hit, and each thing takes twice the beating: monsters have double the life there.
The Arena is the exception: the same monster count in all three worlds.
A trap after master level
Once the master level opens, monsters below level 95 stop giving experience. Not a little: zero.
If your bar simply stopped moving after opening master, this is it — and the fix is to change map.
