The elf buff
The Fairy Elf is the only class that strengthens another person. Her spells do not land on anybody: they sit on you, for a while, and wear off on their own.
The two that matter
| Spell | Elf level | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Greater Defense | 30 | raises the defence of whoever receives it |
| Greater Damage | 40 | raises the damage of whoever receives it |
A level 40 elf has both. Below that, only the defence one.
She also has Heal (level 20), which fills another person's life on the spot — useful mid-fight, but it is not a buff: it does not last.
Why the trip is worth it
A buff is not comfort, it is output. With both on you hit faster and last longer in the same place — that is, you level faster hunting exactly where you already were.
If you play on your own, it is worth arranging with someone: five minutes going to town pay for hours of hunting.
How to get it
- Talk to an elf — in global chat (
/post) or in town. - Stand near each other. She casts it, and that is it.
- You do not need to be in the same party to receive it.
If you are in the party, then she levels up alongside you while you hunt — and that is why a party with an elf pays on both sides. See party and guild.
What removes the buff
- Time runs out — it is temporary, always.
- You die — you lose everything that was on.
Neither of those costs an item or zen. It costs only the trip to whoever casts it.
