Rings and pendants
They are the two slots almost everyone leaves empty, and they are the cheapest thing in the game that cancels the enemy's spell entirely.
Rings and pendants give no damage and no defence. They give resistance to an element — and resisting, here, is not taking less damage. It is the skill not happening.
What resistance does
When someone uses an elemental skill on you, the server rolls once. If you resist, the skill is cancelled completely — no freeze, no stun, no poison, no damage at all.
The chance comes from your resistance to that element:
| Resistance | Chance to block |
|---|---|
| 0 | 0% |
| 1 | 50% |
| 2 | 67% |
| 5 | 83% |
| 9 | 90% |
| 13 | 93% |
The part almost nobody knows: at +0 it gives nothing
A ring's resistance equals its level. A Ring of Fire +0 gives zero. The same ring at +1 already blocks half the fire skills thrown at you.
It is the cheapest improvement in the game: raising a ring from +0 to +4 costs four Jewels of Bless and turns a useless item into 80% blocking.
Only the highest counts. The game takes the highest resistance among the pendant and the two rings, per element. Two Rings of Fire +13 do not become 186 — they stay 13. Use different elements in each slot.
The names do not match what they give
This is the part that makes people buy the wrong ring. The item's name does not tell you the element it resists. Check the table, not the name:
| Item | Level to use | Actually resists |
|---|---|---|
| Pendant of Fire | 13 | Fire ✓ |
| Ring of Poison | 17 | Wind ✗ |
| Ring of Ice | 20 | Lightning ✗ |
| Pendant of Lightning | 21 | Earth ✗ |
| Ring of Fire | 30 | Fire ✓ |
| Pendant of Ice | 34 | Lightning ✗ |
| Ring of Earth | 38 | Earth ✓ |
| Pendant of Wind | 42 | Wind ✓ |
| Ring of Wind | 44 | Wind ✓ |
| Pendant of Water | 46 | Water ✓ |
| Ring of Magic | 47 | nothing |
| Pendant of Ability | 50 | nothing |
The two highest-level ones — Ring of Magic and Pendant of Ability — give no resistance at all. They are the most expensive to use and the only ones that block nothing.
What resists what
| Element | What the skill does to you |
|---|---|
| Lightning | stuns |
| Ice | freezes and slows |
| Fire · Earth · Wind · Water · Poison | damage and elemental effect |
Against Ice and Lightning, the SD potion gives +50% resistance while it lasts — it is the only consumable that helps here.
What gives full immunity
- Iron Defense, while it lasts: blocks everything.
- Resistance 255: permanent immunity, and only the Ring of GM has it.
Where to get them
They drop from monsters, like any item, from each one's drop level (the Pendant of Fire drops early, the Ring of Magic only from high monsters). See what drops.
They last 50 durability and are repaired by any blacksmith. It hits zero, it stops giving resistance — and you go back to taking the whole skill without noticing.
